“This is a rolling, letter-writing movement to give our workers emotional strength, thanking them personally. Teachers around the country are recognizing the value of this project and are accessing our resources. It makes everyone feel a little better.”

To Be Thankful.
We are experiencing a terrible year with a viral pandemic, racial injustices, forest fires, severe weather, and political polarization… But the power of gratitude and kindness can help combat our cultural turbulence. Even in these tough times, there is still a lot to be thankful for AND a lot of people to thank: from the COVID frontline healthcare workers risking their lives; to the firefighters battling the flames on the west coast; the parents who are juggling childcare and work demands; and the teachers who are navigating the uncharted territory of pandemic-era learning.
To express gratitude, students across the country are teaming up with award-winning author, Carew Papritz to celebrate “National Thank You Letter Day” and dedicate it to the heroes of 2020.
Kids are writing letters and sending voice notes showing appreciation for the service of the men and women doing the hard jobs. (Check out some of the videos HERE.)
Carew Papritz (the award-winning author of “The Legacy Letters”) is a social activist and literacy advocate who created National Thank You Letter Day (NTYLD) to teach children—and remind adults—about the personal importance of paying gratitude forward in their daily lives.
Normally, NTYLD is a one-day event celebrated on November 14th. In previous years, Papritz and students from his home town of Green Valley, Arizona drew large crowds with the creation of the World’s Largest Thank You Letter in 2018, and in 2019 mailing the letter through the US Postal service postmarked with the World’s Largest Stamp and Envelope!
“This year, one National Thank You Letter Day is not enough,” says Papritz. “This is a rolling, letter-writing movement to give our workers emotional strength, thanking them personally. Teachers around the country are recognizing the value of this project and are accessing our resources. It makes everyone feel a little better.”
NTYLD not only teaches kids about the importance of gratitude, kindness, manners, and civility, it is also an opportunity to teach crucial literacy and communication skills.
Please help us spread the word about this FREE, altruistic, & educational effort, which (this year) will be celebrated as a rolling movement from Oct. 1 – Dec. 1.
