The announcement was made by managing partner Beatrice Pitocco, and director of business, Samantha Moran who said the partnership will center on offering a limited edition sock for which five dollars will be donated back to local chapters of Best Buddies across Texas. The sock called Up, Up, and Away was designed by Best Buddies Ambassador Alex from Wylie.
These limited edition socks were created by Jason Simmons, CEO of DeadSoxy.com and the socks will be available online here and directly through fundraising efforts by Texas-based chapters. “The goal of this campaign,” notes Pitocco “is to raise at least $100,000 for Texas Chapters and continue contributing to the success and continuance of this important and deserving charity. The Best Buddies socks coincide with annual Friendship walks in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio and every buyer is encouraged to attend and walk for Best Buddies in their limited edition socks.
The Friendship Walk plays a key role in funding Best Buddies programs dedicated to one-to-one friendships, leadership development, and integrated job opportunities for individuals with IDD.

Best Buddies Ambassador Alex’s entry was the inspiration for the winning design. Our socks have feet. Feet for the journey. The journey of a lifetime. To go places… Places where we live and play. Places where we work and learn. Places where we discover new horizons. Places where there are faith, hope, and love. Places where we have never journeyed before. And places where we can find our best buddy.
Alex C. is 16 years old, loves science, nature and video games. Since before he could walk Alex has loved books and learning Alex has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
