Staying Healthy During COVID.

The pandemic has changed nearly every aspect of our lives and the holidays are no exception. Although our celebrations will look very different this year, one thing that has not changed in the COVID era: our love of holiday treats! After months of uncertainty and global turbulence, people will be leaning on the holidays more than ever to cheer themselves up and indulgent comfort foods are sure to play a central role.

According to Dr. Robert Kiltz, navigating nutrition during the holidays is never easy but in the COVID era, it’s an important consideration.

“Diet and nutrition affect so much more than your weight. Gut health is also linked to your immune system, sleep patterns, energy levels – the list goes on and on…”

…says Dr. Kiltz, a board-certified OB/GYN and reproductive endocrinologist who is a leader in the diet and wellness industry. Eating comfort food, drinking eggnog, and indulging in sweets are of course part of what makes the holidays festive. Is it even possible or realistic to be healthy this time of year? According to Dr. Kiltz, you don’t have to compromise all the things you love in order to be healthy and feel good. A thought leader in the keto movement, Dr. Kiltz believes that sticking to low carbs and high fats are key and he says bacon, eggs, butter, beef, and ice cream are where it’s at!

“But remember, it’s not just what you put in your mouth, it’s what you put in your mind. Instead of deriving holiday cheer from food alone, lean into non-food holiday traditions. Indulge in gratitude and focus on the people you are with…”

…says Dr. Kiltz. According to Kiltz, gratitude is one of the strongest positive emotions and is often linked to happiness. It not only helps people achieve higher levels of joy, it has also been shown to improve the immune system, regulate blood pressure, reduce aches and pains, and help with sleep. Dr. Kiltz is on a mission to educate people and help them adapt to a healthy lifestyle in the most manageable and natural way possible.

Diet and nutrition affect so much more than your weight. Gut health is also linked to your immune system, sleep patterns, energy levels – the list goes on and on.
